So how often is there a UCI Pro Tour race in your own state? Maybe Missouri and Georgia too, but I have to say Tour of Califonia has to be on top! This year I watched the last stage with my dad and some friends! We came out on Friday night, and stayed over at my half-sisters house because she lives nearby. And we rode the race course twice on Saturday. The pros had some gnarly climbing ahead of them! On Sunday we woke up early and rode the course again before the race came through. But we finished riding 3 hours early! So we sat around in the middle of the mountain for 3 hours waiting for the race to come through. Luckily Livestrong was there passing out yellow chalk to write on the ground. If you check out my pics you'll see what I drew!! haha. Anyways thats what we did to kill some time. And as the cars and marshall motorcycles came through we awaited for the racers to come by. And finally after all the waiting the break away came through with Andy Schleck and Jens Voigt up front, Levi Leipheimer just chillin on their wheels, a few others, and Frank Schleck in the very back, jersey unzipped and wide open, breathing easily and ready to make his move. As the break went by I saw the camera man go by and everyone was telling me I was on TV! But after the break came by, the peleton came by soon after with Lance Armstrong in the front! Then there was a chase group with Mark Cavendish! and there was also a guy from Rabobank #58, he looked me straight in the eye when he passed by! After the whole caravan came through and the struggle sprinters in the back came through everyone began to descend to the bottom of the mountain, and when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. It was like another race to the bottom! A zoo of people with and/or without experience trying to get another glimpse of the pros at the bottom of the mountain! When we got there it was another 10-15 minutes till they arrived and they were smokin' fast! And that was the end of watching the Tour of California this year. We were parked in the casino parking lot, so we didnt make it to watch the finish but of course FRANK SCHLECK won!! But we did encounter some dead stop traffic on the way home!

After taking a nice break, I am now back on the bike! Its been cold lately here in Cali but I'm still making the best of it! We've had a good amount of rain, theres even some snow capped mountains in Santiago Canyon and an actually little river flowing through the canyon that goes to Irvine Lake! I'm sure that is really good out here, because by the time summer comes everything will go back to being brown and burnt! But everything else has been going great... 2009 is looking good!
PS
Happy Valentines Day!

Happy President's Day!
Have a good one!

'When you train, train hard...when you play, play hard'
On my last day off the bike, best buds Justin Williams and Kendall Ryan went snowboarding with me to Snow Summit. The snow wasnt that great, pretty choppy and melted...and there were TONS of people, and most of them didnt know how to board/ski. So we had to find our own small secret spot that was hard enough that not very many people went. We boarded for 9 hours!!! Yes, thats 9 full hours! We did take 2 breaks...1 to eat some lunch and another to take a 20 minute nap in the van... It was also pretty hot out. We saw some people hitting the slopes in tank tops and t-shirts...I was about to do the same, but I figured it was probably smart not to do that... haha.
Anyways...I had a whole lot of fun and I'm glad I made my last day off the bike definitely worth it...although I really cant wait to get back to riding!!!
All for now...new pics in the gallery!

It has probably been 2 years since I've gone snowboarding! And it used to be a family tradition that we'd go snowboarding every winter between Christmas and New years. But as everyone grew up, time shrank, so we havent been going for a few years. But now that I have a good amount of time off the bike I finally got the chance to hit the mountains...but this time I won't be huffing and puffing up the switchbacks...I'll be gliding down the mountain with a nice fresh layer of white snow between the mountain and my board! Luckily my board still fits me! But sadly my clothes don't fit anymore!!! Fortunately OAKLEY hooked me up with snowboarding pants & jacket and most importantly snow goggles! After encountering the frightening experience getting to Snow Summit, I put on my Oakley Airbourne snowboard pants, my Oakley Lighter Fare Jacket, my Oakley snowboard socks, my Oakley beanie, and my white Oakley Stockholm goggles, grabbed my board and hit the slopes! I tested to see if I still had my skills on the bunny slope and I sure did! After that I went straight to the All-Mountain Express lift and took that to the top of the mountain. At the end of the day I probably got 30 runs in! I had so much fun I couldn't stop! I spent a lot of time in the freestyle park too =]. I'm still thinking whether it was a GOOD or BAD thing that the halfpipe was closed... Anywho, I was pretty happy to come out during my semester break which was a Monday since there wasn't that many people there. AND since it has been raining all week, it dumped snow at Big Bear so the snow was real and fresh!
I'm really happy that I was finally able to get out and carve the mountain again...I have been missing it too much!
I think I just might take another snowboard trip before my break is over...

This year on my visit to my very supportive sponsor, Euro-Asia Imports, I brought my mom along. I got reacquainted with Dave, Anthony, Gustavo, Steve, and everyone at Euro-Asia Imports; it's always good to see the real people behind the curtains. We had a fun adventure taking a tour throughout their warehouse. Euro-Asia Imports has been providing me top of the line products for the last three years to help me reach my goals and dreams. I am more than grateful to have a company like them to sponsor me. They always have what I need and some! Whether its road, track, or cyclocross they've got it! Thanks for all that you have done for me Euro-Asia Imports! I really couldn't ask for more!
Thank you Euro-Asia Imports!!!
Dont forget to check my photo album!

Although we almost died again from hitting a 'boulder', we finally got a good ride today and really got to know the team. On the ride home we saw a free pony and a goat chasing each other and a pink limousine. We had dinner at Metro club member's house Doug Hall and we probably made the best salmon ever! And the cookies were bomb too! We also had a nutrition talk from Betty of Living Well Dallas, where we learned alot about the things that we eat.
So that was today...we'll see what tomorrow will have in store for us!!
PS I found out I was in cyclingnews! It was pretty darn cool:
